75th ANNIVERSARY OF REPUBLIC STUDIOS COMMITTEE BEING FORMED

In preparation for the big 75th Anniversary of the founding of Republic Studios in Studio City, the Museum of the San Fernando Valley is forming a special REPUBLIC STUDIO EXPERIENCE Committee. The Museum’s Committee will be working closely with the Cultural Affairs Committee of the Studio City Neighborhood Council, to support community events surrounding the Anniversary.

The information and artifacts gathered by The Museum’s Republic Studios effort will form a basis for the organization’s ultimate objective of creating a site that celebrates the role played by the San Fernando Valley in the entertainment industry.

Among the things The Museum’s special Republic Studios 75th Anniversary Committee will be seeking will be:
• General histories of Republic Studios and related studios
• Profiles of Republic’s leadership – Administrative matters
• Maps and images of the physical layout of the Studios
• Histories of Craft Guilds and Unions related to the Studio
• Documents related to the Studios -
• Scrapbooks and Personal artifacts
• Biographies / images of Actors
• Biographies/ images and recordings of Musicians and Composers
• Scripts used in Republic Studios’ films
• Film lists
• Information / images of Republic’s locations
• Historical Journals
• Directories and pamphlets
• Pamphlets, brochures, posters, still photographs
• Postcards featuring the Studios
• Promotional items related to the Studios and its films
• Animals used in Republic productions
• Awards and recognitions for the Studios & its professionals
• Equipment used in film making at Republic
• Press releases and media coverage
• Periodicals, including “movie magazines”
